It's been awhile since my last post. I've kind of been in maintenance mode the past several months since the "spots" are microscopic and nothing new has shown up.
Wednesday we saw Dr. Fabian for the results of my latest CT scan. She is confident that everything is stable and there is no evidence of active disease. So, she is going to grant me my summer wish (actually it truly was all her idea, but I'm definitely not arguing about it) and let me go off the Xeloda (chemo pill) for the summer. This way I can be in the sun and enjoy my summer a little more! I'll stay on the weekly injections of Herceptin and the Tykerb. But, Dr. Fabian is ready to give my body a break and hopefully ease up some of the side effects for awhile.
Hopefully all will go well and I can stay off of it for quite awhile!! She'll continue to monitor me very closely with CT scans to make sure nothing changes. I'll actually be getting a PET scan and a CT of my abdomen to check all my other organs before we go off the meds.
I also saw my Cardiologist a week ago and he reviewed all my Heart echos just to be sure I wasn't in need of heart medication at this time. Good news.... I'm good for now! I was dreading adding two more meds to the regimen. So, we were very glad to hear we won't be doing that at this time!!
